Never Get a 'Real' Job: How to Dump Your Boss, Build a Business, and Not Go Broke
Scott Gerber

Meet 27-year-old Scott Gerber. In his new book "Never Get a 'Real' Job: How to Dump Your Boss, Build a Business, and Not Go Broke" (Wiley, John & Songs; $22.95), the former Staten Islander and "serial entrepreneur" straight-forwardly explains how to start a business without landing in the poor house.

In additon to telling Gerber's story - including the infamous failed company that shalt not be named - "Never Get a Real Job" gives insight and advice into getting started, figuring out finances, building a business plan, partnering and marketing your product or service among other topics.

He concluded, "I'm helping peers of our generation to get up, get started and get entrepreneurial."

Crowd Funding

Crowd Funding (or Crowd Sourced Capital) is the concept that a group of people collaborate and combine their money to support any of a variety of efforts or organizations. The money can be used for anything from a a small business idea to a charity to a political campaign. Crowd Funding has gotten significant attention and momentum recently due to the role of social networking and media in promoting new ideas. Entrepreneurs are exploring the opportunities presented by Crowd Funding to boost their start-up.

Crowdsourcing is outsourcing work that would typically be performed by an employee to the public through an "open call", such as a contest or competition. Similar to Crowd Funding, social media and networking have contributed greatly to this effort by allowing small businesses and other groups to solicit the help of a larger group of people.
