Barbara Feldman became adept at moving herself around the country to sell software, hardware,and fiber optics technology to banks and financial institutions. In 2007, she leveraged her 20 years+ of personal relocation experience into A Nu Start NY, a company that assists seniors in downsizing, transitioning and relocating. Today Barbara is a Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist (CRTS), and Circle of Service Member of National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM). She has a BA from Adelphi University. Barbara is one of the Institute’s first clients., BA Adelphi University.

Jeanne Golly has had five careers in her 48+ years career span: After being downsized from marketing functions which included selling and acquiring corporate operating divisions and product-lines in multinational corporations, (2)she founded a multinational US/Japan marketing consultancy; (3) Taught 7th grade and college level; and currently (4)directs the career services function at a fashion college while (5)writing book on contemporary South East Asian artists.

Merry Nachemin, an administrative and psychiatric social worker, lost her position as a licensed psychotherapist and the administrator of a mental health program, when her agency was dissolved. Merry fused that experience with her extensive fashion and color sense as well as two Certificates from FIT to create makeovers in cosmetics and wardrobe that give her clients the distinctive look of success and the boost of confidence to reach their goals.

Sandra Oster had a vibrant decorating business that was unable to sustain itself in 2008 along with most businesses that depended on discretionary spending. She sought jobs with other decorators, and scoured Craig's List. She was concerned because her warehouse held many home furnishings she had accumulated to sell to these clients. She decided to see if she could sell these items online. She turned a liability into an asset by launching "Decorators Tag Sale," an Ebay for decorators.

Charlene Overcash, is the Small Business Administration (NY Area) Story of 2012. Charlene,went from a North Carolina farm to a career in physical therapy and then a career in nursing which took her to a NYC visting nurse service. After visiting a veternarian with her pet one day,Charlene applied her visiting nurse skills to create Pet Home Health Agency, a visiting nurse service for pets.
