A Commitment to Helping People
Each year F·E·G·S Health and Human Services System provides a comprehensive array of services that create opportunities for more than 100,000 people – some 10,000 each day – at more than 350 locations throughout New York City and Long Island.
F·E·G·S services include: employment, career, and workforce development; help for individuals transitioning from welfare to work; behavioral health and developmental disabilities programs; rehabilitation programs; residential services; services to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, the elderly, new immigrants, families in need, youth at risk, those with substance abuse problems, and services for individuals facing life-limiting or end-of-life illness.

F·E·G·S works closely with business, government, and the voluntary/philanthropic communities to develop innovative programs that meet ever-changing community needs. Our programs are licensed and approved by numerous government governmental organizations and are accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities).

F·E·G·S is also a leader in harnessing technology to improve and enhance services in the most cost-efficient manner. Some 15 subsidiary and affiliated corporations provide a sophisticated infrastructure and support service delivery system in fields such as information technology, human resources, staffing, disaster management, homecare, and related areas.
Since its founding in 1934, F·E·G·S has assisted more than three million people. Established by the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies (now UJA-Federation of New York), F·E·G·S's mission has remained constant for almost three-quarters of a century: To help the individuals we serve to achieve their highest level of success – at work, at home, at school, and in the community.
